Detail Color Comp of the Timeline and Globe, version 1

Hey there, Josh! Here are the color comps for the timeline and the globe, as we discussed in email (the timeline is near-final, the globe is at comp stage).

I tried two different versions of the timeline...one keeps your original colors for the measuring strips, and is a bit more bold and striking. It also has the tickmarks rendered as if they were cut out of the timeline, revealing the background behind. The other variant has lighter measuring strips to create a more subdued look, and has the tickmarks in white, floating above the timeline.

I also took a stab at recreating the globe in a cut paper style. I'm envisioning it looking almost like papier-mache, or like multiple layers of soft tissue paper all overlapping. I haven't gone to the same level of detail in the treatment (shadows, highlighting, textures), as I wasn't sure if you would approve of this direction. We've got plenty of time to develop the concept further if you like it.

Each comp is available as a full-size 72dpi image, for layout purposes...just click on any of the main images to access it. I've also included a detail at the bottom, so that you can see what the texture and lighting and so forth would look like. It's so difficult to show that sort of detail at 72dpi!

Let me know what you think!
